Terms of Use
Effective
GrooveDojo is an independent drum practice project developed and operated by one person in Ontario, Canada (“I” or “me”). These terms are an agreement between you and me about using GrooveDojo at this site. By using it, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.
Free to use
You don’t need an account, and there’s nothing to pay. The core practice tools are free, and they’re intended to remain free: the editor with its notation, playback and the metronome, kit input, playing along without a kit, Practice Mode with its results and each drum’s details, session reviews and your practice history, the exercises, the Independence Trainer and Practice Plans, and your library with its backups, imports, exports and share links.
Nothing is for sale today. If that changes, I’ll update these terms first.
Using GrooveDojo
You may use GrooveDojo for your own practice, and in lessons you teach. Please don’t:
- copy, modify, sell or redistribute the app, or host it anywhere else
- take apart its code, except where the law allows it whatever these terms say
- interfere with the site, overload it or get around its limits
- use it to break the law or anyone else’s rights
Keep the volume at a level that’s safe for your hearing.
Ownership
Copyright. GrooveDojo’s original software and creative works, including its code, design, text, graphics, sounds, and built-in grooves and exercises, are protected by copyright, which belongs to its developer. © 2026 GrooveDojo. All rights reserved. These terms let you use GrooveDojo at this site. They don’t give you any other rights to it, such as a license to its code.
The name and logo. “GrooveDojo” and its logo identify this project. These terms don’t give you any right to use them, for example to name your own product or to suggest that I endorse something.
Third-party components. GrooveDojo includes open-source software and fonts made by others. They’re used under their own licenses, which these terms don’t change, and those licenses, not these terms, say what you may do with them. See the third-party notices.
Your content
The grooves you write and the practice history you record are yours. GrooveDojo saves them on your device and doesn’t send them to me, and I claim no rights to them.
You’re responsible for what you share. If a groove copies someone else’s music, such as a drum part transcribed from a recording, sharing it may need their permission.
If you send me feedback or ideas, I may use them to improve GrooveDojo, without owing you anything for them.
Reading sheet music
Reading sheet music online is a convenience, not a transcription service. It can misread notes, rhythms and which drum is which, so check each bar against the original before you practice it. Only read music you have the right to use, and don’t send images that aren’t drum notation.
Online reading has daily and monthly limits, and I may change them, or pause or stop online reading, at any time. When it’s paused, you can still write grooves in the editor and import files.
Your data and backups
Your library is saved in your browser, on your device (Privacy). GrooveDojo saves as you go and is built to protect your work through updates, but browser crashes, storage failures and cleared browser data can still lose it, and I can’t recover it. You’re responsible for exporting backups of anything you want to keep (how).
Timing results
Timing results, observations and other feedback are practice aids. They depend on your kit, computer, browser and connection, and they aren’t precise measurements (what they can and can’t tell you).
Other services
GrooveDojo is hosted by Cloudflare. Sheet music you read online is read by Anthropic’s AI model, after a check by Cloudflare Turnstile. Links to other sites go to services I don’t control, under their own terms.
Tips
You can leave a tip on my Ko-fi page, through the “Support GrooveDojo” link. A tip doesn’t buy anything, unlock a feature, create an account or change how GrooveDojo works for you, and GrooveDojo stays free whether or not you tip. Ko-fi and Stripe process tips in Canadian dollars, under their own terms.
Tips aren’t charitable donations. They aren’t tax-deductible, and no charitable donation receipt is provided.
Tips are voluntary and generally non-refundable. If you believe a tip was made in error or charged twice, please contact contact@groovedojo.app. Refund requests will be reviewed individually. This does not affect any rights provided by applicable law.
Changes
GrooveDojo is in beta and still in development. Features may change, and I may change or stop the site at any time. I may also update these terms. The effective date at the top shows when they last changed, and the new terms apply from then on.
No warranty
To the extent permitted by applicable law, GrooveDojo is provided free, “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. I don’t promise that it will be accurate, always available or free of errors, that it suits a particular purpose, or that it will keep your data.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, I’m not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost data, arising from your use of GrooveDojo or from being unable to use it. Some places don’t allow these exclusions, so some of them may not apply to you.
Your rights where you live
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection or privacy laws that can’t be waived.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If you live elsewhere, the mandatory protections of your local law still apply.
